Why More Founders Are Choosing Bootstrapping Over Venture Funding

As venture funding has grown more selective, a noticeable shift is underway: more early-stage founders are choosing to bootstrap rather than pursue institutional capital.

Founders interviewed cited control over product direction and pace as the biggest draw, along with a desire to avoid the pressure of hitting aggressive growth targets set by investors.

The tradeoff is slower scaling, and several founders acknowledged that bootstrapping isn't realistic for capital-intensive businesses like hardware or biotech.

Still, with more tooling available to run lean teams, the operational bar for reaching profitability has dropped significantly compared to a decade ago.
